First off you’re the man! I can’t tell you how much I wanted this exact thing and when I started following oculus rift it seem like even more possibility. The fact you’re doing it has me stoked.
One suggestion I would have is to make many diverse lounges. I remember when I looked at the blueprints thinking wow this ship has a ton of lounges. And your short video shows like 4 of them at least.
So it would be neat once you get everything filled out to have some lounges dedicated to different types of live music. Like a jazz lounge. Maybe other lounges are dedicated to dancing. I mean if you look at some of the newer cruise ships out there they have like 20 different lounges bars and such. And each one is themed differently like a salsa club or a karaoke club. I’m not saying we need karaoke on the Enterprise D but you get my point.
Also if I remember correctly there are sections in the corridor that are pretty large. I’m talking about [I think] Deck 10 or something like that around the of middle port and middle starboard of the saucer section. The corridor opens up into a large oval area and a large square area. To me it seems like these would be little town square type of areas. A section for that neighborhood so to speak of the ship to meet and hang out. So maybe benches and a water fountain or something. Just a nice little area to gather and be around others.
That is a fantastic idea. I don’t want it to look like a copy and paste operation (admittedly I did this for the video) Good call on referencing modern cruise ships. The Galaxy class really was this kind of vessel in a way.
I very much envision town center type areas on the bigger decks. As well as a 5 or 6 story open mall with shops along it. Thank you for the suggestions!
Are you going to put in the ‘mall/grotto’ that Whitford had? That was always my favourite feature, and stumbling on it in minecraft with walkways through a little waterfally rocky rainforest and decks around the edge was the best.
I agree with all said here…I love the idea of a five-deck Mall/Grotto, the town square/ town circle, and the two-deck theater form the Whitford plans… Also, I noticed that near the back of the ‘neck’ there is reference to a four story ‘fountain’ or waterfall… I was thinking of this being similar to the fountain in the Dubai Mall in Dubai, UAE. See here: and here: I would love to see a big four-deck waterfall there…
